What Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data in a few different ways:

  • Enquiry forms (on our Home and Contact pages): name, company name (optional), email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
  • Orders placed through our online shop: name, delivery address, billing address, email address, phone number, and details of what you've ordered. Orders are processed through our Online Store, provided by IONOS and powered by Ecwid.
  • Payment information: your card or payment details are entered directly into our payment provider's secure checkout. We do not see, collect, or store your full card number.
  • Technical and usage data: collected automatically via cookies and similar technologies when you browse our site. This includes Google Analytics, which we only use if you accept analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How We Use Your Data, and Why

  • To fulfil your order: processing payment, arranging delivery, and providing order updates. (Necessary to perform our contract with you.)
  • To respond to enquiries: answering questions about products, sizing, bulk orders or anything else you contact us about. (Our legitimate interest in running a responsive business, or to take steps towards a contract at your request.)
  • To meet our legal obligations: for example, keeping records for accounting and tax purposes.
  • To keep our website secure and working properly, and to understand how it's used so we can improve it. (Our legitimate interest, balanced against your rights.)
  • For marketing: only where you have given us clear consent to contact you this way. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Who We Share Your Data With

We don't sell your personal data to anyone. We share it only where necessary to run our business and fulfil your order, including with:

  • Our Online Store platform provider (IONOS / Ecwid), who host our shop and process orders on our behalf.
  • Our payment processors, Stripe and PayPal, to securely take payment. Your card or PayPal details go directly to them and are handled under their own privacy policies.
  • Couriers and delivery partners, to get your order to you.
  • IT and website hosting providers who support our systems, including IONOS, who host this website.
  • Google, through Google Analytics, to help us understand how visitors use our website. This only happens if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Regulators, law enforcement, or professional advisers, where we're required to by law.

International Data Transfers

Some of the providers we use (including IONOS / Ecwid, Stripe, PayPal and Google) may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected to a standard equivalent to UK data protection law, for example through the provider's own data protection commitments or approved contractual safeguards.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep order and payment-related records for as long as required by UK tax and accounting law (typically six years). Enquiry details are kept only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, unless you go on to place an order or a longer period is required by law.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances.
  • Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your data.
  • Ask for your data to be moved to another organisation (data portability).
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we're relying on consent (e.g. marketing).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@griptek.co.uk. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Keeping Your Data Secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No online system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work with reputable providers (our Online Store platform and our payment processors, Stripe and PayPal) who maintain their own security standards for the data they handle on our behalf.

Children

Our website and products are intended for trade and adult retail customers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if our services or legal obligations change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
